How do these workshops work, is it like a video tutorial with assignment project files?

That's the base, then add a forum for personal replies/discussion with peers and tutori, potentially (depending on subject and trainer) videoreplies or paintovers, and potentially again (depending again on trainer and curriculum) webinars.

No, you dont need them! The courses are fully online and you can access them from anywhere in the world, in your own time. Each week, the instructor releases new video, course material and class notes via a closed online workshop forum. You watch the video, do the work then upload your assignments each week to the workshop forum. Your instructor will give you personal notes on your work via the forum, and the other students in your class (who will be from all over the world) can see and comment on your work too - so there is strong class support. Leigh also gives personal video feedback to each student ('cause she's awesome Some instructors run live web classes where they do a paintovers etc, and these are always recorded for those who can't make it.

We suggest you put about six hours per week aside to complete the material, although like anything, the more you put in, the more you'll achieve. All our courses are designed to be flexible so you can fit them around work and study commitments.

You don't need to be online at any specific time, and the video, notes and forums remain available for 12 months after the end of the class. You can find out more about how the workshops run here:

http://workshops.cgsociety.org/about

Hope to see you on the course! Let me know if I can be of any further help. PM me or email me on kirsty@ballisticmedia.net

Thanks Buscat, I think I will go for this one. I will get my Dad to dig out his debit card and cough up the money on Friday, usually happiest day of the week for him.

Tell your Dad his son's education will bring him even more joy

Well Buscat, it took an extra week for that message to sink into him, seeing as he had to pay half of my car insurance last week. But he coughed up his debit card and paid the tutorial fee a few minutes ago.
I will probably have to cut the grass or clean something up this weekend in return, or worse still suffer through a whole visit by one of my aunts (I usually vanish when I sense their arrival). I hope Leigh's course is worth it.

I'm glad, Dillster - and I recommend you do that extra lawn-mowing because while you're out there you can take a whole lot of reference photographs for your class!
