WIP Beretta 1915 pistol

I'm new to the cgtalk forum...

I used to be a VFX artist working in television, but now I'm trying to break into the videogame industry.

This is my first attempt at creating a model for videogames and I'm still trying to get used to the concept normal maps since I never really needed to used them previously.

I'm still making changes to this model but any comments and critiques would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Update

I made some changes to the handle and added the the normal and diffuse maps. Again any comments and critiques are welcome. I don't have a lot of experience with this and I really want to know what i'm doing right and what I still need to work on.

It's not much different before. I just added the wood handle and and changed the texture a bit in a couple areas.

Thumbs up

For a model with only 563 polys that is really nice looking. Can we see a wire? Also maps? Do you have a normal on it or just a texture map? There are a lot of links and info on this site for making normal maps ranging from Photoshop plugins to stand alone programs. Either way that is an amazing start man.

Thumbs up

That's really cool. I didn't see the second update when I posted. It's really good for some. One who is not use to using low poly then high poly for normal maps. I think it looks amazing considering the poly count. Great job man.

Thanks man! I am little worried that I might be building the model incorrectly. I know modeling for games can be a lot more strict than modeling for vfx.

Thanks man, I feel like the textures can be a bit stronger in some areas. I'm hoping I do an even better job on my next model I'm starting soon.
