Does it matter what OS I use? Again I'll be running Autodesk Maya. Should I go for Windows 7 pro or windows 8? How does maya run in each? Or are they about the same? In other words, which OS is faster with Maya?

Last, which card is better for 3d workflow/ modeling? Radeon or Geforce?

Windows 7 or 8 wont make much difference, just pick whichever you prefer. Id go for 7 myself. For the gfx cards, the radeon will give you more speed for what you pay, but the geforce drivers have a reputation for stability and less glitches.

+1 for Lenovo! It's a good price for performance!
