Very simple landscape?

Hi guys,

I want to create an incredibly simple landscape with a river running through it along the spline as shown in this image, but I've no idea where to get started.

Can anyone point me towards the tools that could help me achieve this?

Hi Unit9

I'm not sure what kind of look you're trying to achieve butÖ

You could make a screencapture from the topview, load it in photoshop as a template
so you see where your river should run, paint a greyscale elevation map the size of
your plane, save and load this image in C4d to use as a displacement map for your plane
to create your landscape.

Or if you have access to those fancy new sculpting tools,
you could simply add a standard landscape object, modify to your liking,
make editable and sculpt/paint your river into the landscape model.

Or if if realism is not important, create a cube/rectangle for your 'ground/earth',
use the spline + another circle spline and sweepnurb them to create a 'tunnel' shape
which you can then subtract from the cube with a boolean operation.

Yep. Proximal is like having a live paint brush. Very handy with particles and MoGraph too.

Glad it helps.
Just out of curiosity, why did you need the river to be defined by a spline? Do you intend to show the river changing course over time?

Remember, when using a spline with Proximal, Proximal is looking at the "Intermediate Points", so be sure to set that to Uniform and set the number high enough so there are no gaps in the way Proximal "paints" it's path.
