Latest Update: Rough Storyboards or 3D pre-visualization: Rough Storyboards Page 4

Hi all,

Let's skip the formalities and get right to recruitment.

We're looking for people to join on to our team. We're in the early stages of Storyboarding and putting together the animatic.

A bit about me (Jeremy)-
I graduated last year from Syracuse, went on to attend Animation Mentor and right now am working as an animator at Heavy Iron Studios. I've been wanting to do another short for a while now, and this contest is exactly what I need to get me motivate. Past works can be seen at

The goal is to dedicate all our free time to this Short and get as many people as possible to join with us in the effort. So far there are three animators/generalists on board, including myself - as an added bonus a couple professional actors have volounteered to do the voice acting; and a fantastic musician volounteered to score.

That leaves many slots to fill and little time to do it.

If you're interested in joining up, we'd love to have you on board (especially modelers at this stage). Just post a reply on this thread

Character Musings

Messing around with Main Character look -

Very rough storyboards coming up, but gives a sense of the direction - revised script will be uploaded along with the animatic next.

Kudos for reading the absurdly wordy descriptions below, but I'm no good with keeping things concise.

Rough Animatic & Script

A rough Animatic & Script.

Note: Current Audio on animatic is temporary tracks for general idea - not finished voice acting/music.

For that matter, the whole of the animatic is in the very rough stages, but worth uploading for more of a sense of the direction I'm heading in.

(swf - 1.5 mb - will take a minute or two to load on a slow connection with no preloader)

The script remains fairly true to the original. Am in the process of punching up the dialogue.

Rough Storyboards or 3D pre-visualization: Rough Storyboards Page 1

Sets up the scene, we learn he's a jerk and see first picture come to life.

This is more of showing the idea then what will actually be seen in the end-the idea is for quick one to three second glimpses of him scared for his life running through different pictures. As many pictures as time allows, with each picture being a unique style. The plan is to use pictures that either A)are already modeled/rigged and the creator is more then happy to work with us to turn it into a short one/two second animation or B)in the process of being made for the Animation competition, and the creator agrees to work with us to have some short dude run through the piece terrified in a variation made seperately for this short. Details of how this montage scene will be done and managed still need to be figured out, but the hope is to work with scenes/models that for the most part are already created, and we're just working them into the short. It's the only realisitic way to carry it off well in the time alloted. It'll still be a lot of work, but it'll be possible (and actually finishing this is the plan)

Need to rework the ending. Something funny with a punch. In fact, after looking at the FAQ I'm surprised at just how liberal our treatment of the script can be. It's virtually total freedom. Many revisions are in order, but character/scene modeling needs to get started in tandem.

Really like your boards, very comprehensive too. Yeah you can make an adaptation, but it's not necessary, don't feel you have to change the screenplay unless you really want to

Keep up the good work
