Max2018.3 modifier stack behavior

I just installed Max2018 and figured out a strange behavior.
When selecting an object, the modifier stack is not shown even when the commandpanel is switched to modify.
Leaving the object selected, switching to "create" and back to "modify" finaly shows the stack.

Is this a bug or a strange new behavior, that hopefully can be switched back to useable mode ?!

I already installed SP3 but that does not give any changes for this "bug".

Not having that issue, there might be something with your Max configuration

I guess it could be a UI redraw issue. What happens if you enter the subobject mode with a hotkey while the modify panel is visible, will it update and redraw correctly?
2017, 2018 and 2019 all had UI work going on and there were issues of all kinds for a number of users. For some, it helps to delete the ENU folder in the user appdata folder (google the correct location). Make sure to backup the folder first to be sure and keep in mind this will reset all customizations you may have set up.

Why "even"? How else?

Something like that you can get if you pin stack (selected object without modifiers) and then select other object .
Switching to "create" (or other) and back will unpin stack .
