Embed video?

Hi guys,
How do I embed a video on CGTalk? Inserting a URL with a [video] tag doesn't work, and there doesn't seem to be a button that does that.

Thanks, JamesNZ

Check this out!
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=889160

Information Needed for Embedding:
You will need the number at the end of the URL of the video's page:
HTML Code:
HTML Code:
http://www.vimeo.com/1982210

In this instance the number would be 1982210

Code Implementation:
Wrap the number with VIMEO tags in your CGTalk post (Do not forget the / in the ending tag!):
HTML Code:
HTML Code:
[VIMEO]1982210[/VIMEO]

As far as I know, only vimeo videos can be embedded in cgtalk.

Oh I see. Thanks for that.

Mind you, I'd think that a "professional, moderated forum" would at least have embedding support

And it does, supports vimeo that is the most proffesional. It would be great that it had a better support than it does, but hey, itīs something.

Agreed, it is something. But not supporting the most popular video sharing site on the planet?? It's not like there isn't any good content on youtube.

Ah well, I mainly use vimeo anyway

There is good content on youtube but you would have to strugle quite a while to find any. And even then, youtube aim to be popular, while vimeo requests that any material you upload is your own, hence, it's a portal more dedicated to film makers, animators, pro and hobbysts but on the "same page" as cgsociety.

Basically, cgsociety is trying to avoid having to delete countless threads of "look how cute my kitty is".

I'm still scratching my head on why there is no updated youtube linking feature. This forum and youtube has been around for how long? The elitist arguement on vimeo vs youtube is irrelevant. Youtube links are chosen by members anyway and the broader horizon of material will only enhance and strengthen Cgtalk.
