Angry Cannot render a transparent matte. Help needed!

So I'm using the roto tool around my object for the whole scene.

I then freeze it and add it to my render queue. I want a luma matte so I change the settings to alpha, straight matte and PNG.

However, when I open the rendered clip in after effects, it is no longer transparent. It's completely black around my luma matte and blocks out my entire clip. I've tried normal mattes and it still doesn't work.

Please help, this is driving me insane!

Simply use use another format. Yeah, it should work with PNG, but who knows what's going on here...

Rendering with alpha is a little cryptic in AE, however as a rule of thumbs in the output settings, make sure you have enabled RGB+Alpha in the drop down, not just RGB. Also you need to use a format that AE can write with alpha, such as tif, png or quicktime movie with animation codec to mention a few.

My guess would be the RGB+Alpha solution as well. When you set up a file in your render it is below the output format (i.e. Quicktime, PNG etc).
