A toy in space, this is just nice.

The father animated the toys face in after effects.

Super cool dad. He did a nice job animating the face also.

This other recent effort was really cool, too, though it was nice to have the cam stabilized to the object with Stanley.

That was very good. Animating Stanleys face was a nice touch. I would have liked to see some more of the freefall footage,

That was actually really touching. Super cool dad.

The trains expressions were priceless - his smile when he landed warmed the cockles of my heart.

How did he animate the face in After Effects?

The animated face looks 3D, and is affected by lighting changes...

Anyways... nice video, and a very cool thing to do for your son!

I would guess that he warped the original face into the different expressions.

Yeah, probably. It looked to me like it was achieved with 3D CG software, but its probably morphing and warping that did it.

If you do it with warps and patches you get all the lighting built in for free..with all those light shifts and changes it would be much more of a pain to match every little thing for a 3D version for the whole duration of the movie.

I can only hope to be as cool as this dad. That was seriously awesome
