PolyCounter?

Is there a polygon counter a la MAX in Cinema 4D?

I know you can use the Structure browser but I don't want to select and sum the polygons of each object.

Perhaps someone know of a free plugin or something?

right click the object in the object manager - "object information" or "scene information" should tell you all you need to know

you can count object or whole scene...

in C4D you can get object info or scene info.

in object manager, under objects - choose either "object information" or "scene information"

you will see:

memory usage
point count
poly count
object count

You can also use:

window > structure info

or

window > selection info

Geez, I am surprised that somebody didn't suggest looking in the manual.
