Objekt generating plugin limit for Python plugins inside C4D


Thereīs a limit of ca. 70 inside C4D, for object generating plugins based on Python.
Itīs a Python limitation - NOT a C4D limitation!!!

If youīre over this limit (more than ca. 70 object generating plugins based on Python)
-> the plugins wonīt work/loaded correctly or shown inside C4D.

In my case, I own a lot of plugins, and Iīm over the limit since a half year.
This caused a lot of workflow problems!
Tried the "BOSS" plugin as a solution, but itīs not really comfortable.

It looks like, that developers make more and more of these object generating plugins based on Python.

If Python canīt raise limit ---> this would be really problematic.

The Maxon support means, thatīs not a C4D problem and they wonīt contact Python.

So, what can we do ???

Since uninformed developers and especially uninformed users / buyers of such plugins have no idea of this limitation problem, is developed further perk.
The related problem in C4D but is silently getting bigger and bigger!

Maybe another plugin scripting language as Python are more welcome for C4D

In all my years I've only known one person to reach he c4d plugin limit, and that was because he just left every piece of rubbish he ever found sat in his plugin folder because he thought that it made him more professional the more plugins he had.

I wont say thats the case here, but what on earth do you have loaded in? your plugin menu must have to scroll!

But youīre right, the list is long and well organized with folders.
The rest with all the icons to identify

For the huge amount of plugins: I like to have all possibilities inside C4D.
Itīs no problem for me.

When I can get a quick solution with a plugin -> i get it and save time.

Maybe youīve a organized C4D scene or expression folder, collected over the years, too.
The principle behind that structure is the same.

The time is coming, other user raise the limit too.

Take a look at "Lazaros" (donation) tools or the Python based tools from Lennart (tcastudio).
These "object generating tools" based on Python are very nice and let you come near to the limit.

The same with GSG Transform (object generating tool):
For sure, I can do all this text stuff by hand,
but for easy jobs, you can save a lot of time with it.
I bought the tool for 99 Euro -> doing a job with it generates you much more than 99 Euro back.

Thatīs why I use plugins, to safe time.

Thomas, you're not alone.
I had such situation, but with capi(c++) plug-ins and Eric(umblefugly) told me to turn to x64 platform(i was at win32).
But currently c4d(v14) is same, Yves(Cindigo developer) made test with ~200 false plug-ins(commands) at plugin-cafe. Wilfried Behne wrote that limitation developer tool(if need, search about it)

And now it's pyapi

You can make bundles by command -homedir, making of different c4d plugin packs
