Confused about Onyx and other plug-ins

Hi there -

I can't seem to find this answer anywhere through searching forums here or google...but does Onyx work with Maya 2013 64-bit? Is it a plug-in or stand alone program that I import mesh into Maya? I see lots of info about 3DSMax but nothing for Maya, yet there's a great Gnomon tutorial about using Onyx w/ Maya which I want to buy, but need to know if it's going to work.

Thanks for the replies

Onyx is both a standalone suite of plant creation applications and also a plugin (OnyxTreeStorm) for 3DS Max. There is no plugin for Maya. Onyx hasn't been updated or worked on in five or six years, other than updates to the Max plugin.

I use Onyx standalones (Conifer, Broadleaf, Flower, Grass, Bamboo) all the time for Maya, however, and they work just fine. Export as .obj files and Maya will import them easily. In the case of Conifer and Flower, sometimes you'll need to do some setup in Maya to rotate and separate the parts, but Broadleaf actually translates flawlessly directly over into Maya via the .obj format.

Hope this helps.
