Maya HIK Tool Custom ChannelBox Effector Values


I've set up a humanoid rig with the HIK tool. I'm trying to mirror poses for looping (like run cycles etc), and to do that i try to take the channelbox values from, say, the left arm and plug into the right arm. But putting in my custom values straight into the channelbox doesn't give any effect on the bodypart, it just resets to its old values.

So, how should I mirror a pose of a humanoid character cycle best using the HIK tool assuming plugging in these values just doesnt work? If so why doesn't it work? Or how can i make it work?

I hope i described my issue well enough, very thankful for any help.
