Dissapearing Polys?

I have this issue. It is not inverted normals because that does not fix it.

All is well if I do a bridge. But when I interactively add segments, the polys disappear. I thought it might be a graphics card issue, It displays fine in HQ.

But it also renders with holes. And the normals are facing the right way. So I am not sure what this is.

The same thing happens if my mirror a proxi subdiv and try an extrude. So it is tied to adding mesh components interactively, perhaps with subdivision.

I am using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M.

As far as the latest drivers, they don't work on my laptop. It brings my system to a halt and I have to roll it back.

The fact that it renders with holes makes me wonder what it is.

Any ideas?

By the way it works fine if I interactively extrude. But not bridge.

Edit: oops sorry. 2013 no SAP.

It's an old bug (which drove me insane myself back when I first encountered it).

Turns out certain operations, like bevel, mess up with the shader assignments for poly faces.

Good news is: nothings broken and its an easy fix: select your object, re-assign the shader (in this case lambert1, or default).

Wipes sweat from brow...

Thanks!

And that makes perfect sense as to the behavior.

PIA, but at least its fixable.

Or try Normals -> Unlock Normals. Most people overlook this, and most of the time this will fix the black hole face normals without reassigning a shader.

Thanks for the suggestion. In my case that seems to shift things around a bit but not totally fix it. But it is good to know. I'll keep it in mind as in some cases that might do the trick.
