Possible to loop edges but only between two that are selected?

Loop is handy, so is ring and so are the dot loop/ring options in the graphite tools but I'm wondering whether you can select two edges that are for example 10 edges apart but on the same loop. And with one click bang selection done?

Distance Connect does that, but it doesn't work on a cylinder shape where the two edges would connect to a larger loop (it will connect going both directions)

that's a very good point - it seems obvious now - but I overlooked it

I do tend to want this feature when working with complete loops - it would be great if you could pick an option to select the longest or shortest route. Oh well, many things are nice to have!
