deleting / clearing an HD Solver / Rig

Hey,

I have rigged a model with an HD IK solver.

It turns out that this thing is really hard to animate - so now I want to delete the solver and rerig it with an HI IK solver - but I can't "delete" the solver. Deleting the tips of my IK rig deletes all my "bones" or helper objects.

Is there an easy way to clear it and make the model the same it was before I added the solver?

Why is the rigging workflow in max so destructive? Linking one bone to a wrong bone usually destroys the whole rig and the back button doesn't work. This sucks.

thanks for you help
