Anamorphic export

Hi Guys,

I have been scouring the web for this but unfortunately did not seem to get a good understanding so I have to resort to posting my question and will be extremely thankful if you could help out.

Basically, I have to deliver a video for broadcast. Here are their format requirements:

output format: IMX50 anamoprhic, Pal, Video encode: D-10/ IMX, Audio Encode: PCM
frame: rate: 25
frame rate mode: Progressive
resize: Active Picture: w- 720 h- 576, Frame Size: w- 720 h-608

Encode profile 50mbps Mpeg2 4:2:2@ML

Audio Profile GOP Structure I-Picture Only

This is my first time of delivering for broadcast and im panicking.

My composition settings are: HDTV 1920x1080, 25fps, Square Pixels

I am able to find an IMX50 codec, I think I will also be able to identify correct settings for the audio.
What I don't understand is how to export a correct anamorphic 16:9, I don't even know what steps to take in order to achieve this.

I someone could please take a minute and explain to me what render settings to set up in oder to export the video to the requirements above. Do I need to fiddle with the composition settings or can it be done in the render process?

Please help me out if you have a spare minute, I will be extremely grateful.

Either way is possible.

I'd create a new comp with the widescreen(this is important) PAL preset, drop your HD comp in it, resize it and render out an uncompressed or animation quicktime master with linear pcm 16bit 48.000 kHz audio.

The resulting file I'd encode in Compresssor or Adobe Media Encoder into an imx50 quicktime and an 50mbps Mpeg2.

This sounds weird to me since in my understanding GOP (group of pictures) isn't related to audio.

Thank you for your reply,

Could you please have a look at the attached pictures whether my composition settings are correct (picure 1).
The composition that I get is 4:3, should I render it as it is (picture 2) or scale it so it is widescreen (picture 3). I do not fully understand what anamorphic is so could you please advise which one of these will be correct according to the resolution delivery requirements mentioned earlier.

Thank you

Looks correct to me. 4:3 with the choosen pixel aspect ratio will result in a 16:9 playback.

Thank you, so picture 2 is how my exported video should look right? and then its up to the broadcasters to do the rest?

Yes, you've met their specs, anything after that shouldn't be your concern anymore.
AE has a preview function for non square pixels btw, one of the icons below the comp window, click that and you'll see a preview.
