Ring and index finger - Same length?

I think what they meant by the finger length difference relating to spacial perception and agression wasn't a direct relationship, but rather than the same thing affects both (testosterone levels in the womb).


When drawing hands, I mostly go for whatever looks better. When painting some sort of one-shot character, I just paint random hands that seem to fit with the character's physiology (you know, no blubby hands if they look like they haven't eaten in a year). With recurring characters it's a bit different, I usually determine things like hand/body/whatever type. Minor things like finger length differences tend to be determined by whatever picture was first or, more often, on a whim. I rarely paint hands in a neutral position where it is easy to compare such things, so it usually makes no difference.
For 3D modelling though, I guess I'd just go with the stereotype (more or less even for women, uneven for men).

My own hands... both index fingers are longer (or rather, stick out farther because of how they are positioned), but on one hand the difference is greater than on the other xP

Well, it has nothing to do with the length of their ring fingers. They just practice more .
