Material button disapears

Hello everybody,

I have a little problem with blender. When I have found a material with it's textures and I hit the lamp - button on the right side in the scene menu, the materialsign disapears. How can I bring it back?

Lamps don't have material settings so there is no reason to show the materials icon. Select an object that can have a material like a mesh object and the properties for that object will show up, including the materials icon.

Yes, this worked. With a right click on the object the materialsettings can be seen.
Before I have tried it with a left click . And that of cause didn't work.
But your answer has tought me also to think a little more about the settings in a programm and why they are there. Thank you.
