Question Flipped normals, fine render...

A model I made in 3ds max has flipped normals. Normally, flipping them makes the object render properly and it's no big deal. But when the normals are flipped to face the proper direction, they are see-through in the render as if they are now facing the wrong way instead. When they are facing the wrong way though, it renders normally. Any ideas why? I'll probably have to remodel the object, but I just wonder what is going on...

Could you provide a few screen grabs of your problem?

What renderer are you using? What are your material settings?

These are shots of the flipped normals and how it renders. As you can see it renders fine despite them being flipped. When they're facing properly, they render as though they were flipped though. I have no materials on the object and placing a Standard doesn't seem to do anything.
I just tried a 2-sided material and it rendered fine though. Strange... I guess if I use a 2-sided it's fixed.

A 2 sided material will shouldn't give you any problems.

But try resetting XForm on it, then convert it back to an editable poly and see what happens. That will usually get rid of this.

You can also select all of the faces, and detach them as a new object, that will usually clean out any extraneous or normals related errors.
