Now that is cool.
I wonder if some of their engineers might have gotten the idea from aim constraints in 3D apps.

You can actually build something similar yourself with off the shelf gimbals and cards for hexacopters or similar. That's what they use to fly level and take photos. Giros, servo motors and control cards are pretty easy to find. Provided you're a proficient with your hands you could do that for a fraction of the cost.
