Moma adding support for using the modo renderer in Mari

For those who don't know moma is a plugin by the talented Jacobo Barreiro that let's you use the Modo renderer in Maya and export Maya scenes to Modo. It is now adding support for Mari, check the video here:

Now this just doesnt make sense. Shouldnt The Foundry do it themselves instead of a 3rd party?

I am pretty sure they will eventually. I think foundry was busy making the linux port of modo 701. I would definitely like to see total integration between their products with one click send to mari/nuke from modo in the future though.

Awesome!

I would like MARI to add support different render engines like Arnold, Prman, MR, and Vray so we could see our paint in context with in a production lighting setup. Then the next logical step for the Foundry would be something like ray-brush from Bodypaint.

As long as your busy adding programs that connect to modo, please add Softimage to your list.

Yeah, this way cool. I like animating in Maya, but modo for everything else. I've been meaning to test this out.

Thanks Ali for posting this in the first place!

A new version of moma is out, moma v0.7.5, and since there are a few important changes, I just wanted to share them here.
moma is now released as open source, it adds support for Maya 2014 (and any version of Maya since Maya 2012 SAP), includes an app link to send geometry directly from modo to Mari (kind of the first step towards adding support for modo's renderer right from inside Mari, which is coming) and the ability to create Preview snapshots.

To download it and get more details, please go here:

Cheers!
