Dauntless, Yuriy Mazurkin (2D)

Title: Dauntless
Name: Yuriy Mazurkin
Country: Russia
Software: ArtRage, Photoshop

Hello everyone!
This artwork was started with Photoshop, but then I switched to Artrage.
I was inspired by short novel of Russian writer Alexey Tolstoy. In Russian it names "Family of vurdalak". That's about ghouls.
Hope you like it!
Cheers,
Yuriy

Very strong piece Yuriy imo, congrats. There is a lot of dynamism and realism at the same time, with very nice details all over the canvas. I especially like this color theme, as you add this special red details to the generally wasteland type of palette... The props also help to achieve this genuine Rusin feeling.
My only (minor) crit is the perspective. It's quite difficult to understand the characters position in space, if the horse falling down from a cliff or just jumping around during the fight, or... see? On the other hand this kind of composition gives the strength of this rather theatrical concept, too. (probably the lack of definitive shadows causes this confusion there) So this is more of the two sides of a coin...
Nice job, keep it up!
