I don't use MtoA so this idea might be invalid, but what about shaders plugging into a blend node then the blend node somehow plugging into a blank shader that goes into a shading group?

that wont conserve energy.

I should be more specific, i am trying to put an aiStandard clearcoat (reflection) ontop of an SSS

One of the most annoying things about Arnold, which is meant to be unbiased and physically correct,
is that shaders end up being non-physical all the time, adding diffuse to reflection, etc etc

Horrible
