while i suppose that is possible - it's not necessary as just with simple google search you can see that the creators of any cryptocurrency typically keep a large amount for themselves right at the start - no need to mine them later - it seems satoshi mined his at the very start when the mining was much much less intense and is supposed to own 980,000 bitcoins, the creator of ripple kept enough that when it was around $3 he was worth about 90 billion

while i enjoy a good conspiracy the stuff you were theorizing about is all fairly public knowledge - many crypto currency sites clearly list who owns how much etc... with all the hype i've just been reading about it all lately.

Well, crap.

Quote: TweakTownis reporting that in order to prevent it losing out with direct sales, Nvidia could raise the price of its flagship GTX 2080 from $700 to around $1,500.

And I just bought a Redshift license a couple weeks ago during their sale, expecting prices to level out with their next release cycle. I guess I'll be sticking with CPU power for at least another year, and will just have to swallow a year's worth of Redshift maintenance....

Just a year ago, the GPU train seemed to be a sure-fire deal, with prices falling and performance increasing - but this is yet another firm reminder that we work in the Wild West, where everything can turn on a dime.

I wasn't even aware they had announced the 20x0 series (Volta) cards. *goes to dig around the internets*

that gave me a chuckle. No announcements yet...just rumors. There are lots of rumors...maybe Nvidia won't even release Volta but a line-up or product called Turing. Other rumors speculate about mining-specific cards or gaming cards that block mining. Rumors on pricing and specs. Lots of rumors.
