film Mattepaint help

i am doing 2k film,and i am planning one song with chroma (Backgrounds are mattepaints) plz tell me anyone which size to take backgrounds in photoshop,for example i have panoramic images and i drag it to 2k 2048x1556 but it appears square n losting wide length photos how to maintain wide images in 2048x1556, or any particular frame size is having to do this ,plz help me

that's pixel aspect, in photoshop go to view/pixel aspect ratio and try btw 1.33 to 1.46 and check pixel aspect ratio correction

Also try doing a final 2.35 or 1.85 wide screen aspect ratio for more of that epic feel (which is cropped).
