C4D and Alembic

Just curious what version of Alembic C4D r14 & r15 support Alembic 1.1 or 1.5?

My hunch is that Maxon might be slow to update as the Alembic format develops, but luckily it seems that backwards compatibility is an important consideration for the developers, so I guess C4D users will always at least be able to get the cached geo in, if not newer features right as they get added.

I wonder sometimes why Maxon don't treat the various import/exporters as plugins rather than having them built into the app, like AD do with FBX, Alembic etc. I would imagine that would make them easier to maintain and update without having to wait for the next development cycle of the host app. It's a nice thing about Cactus Dans FBX plugin too, he's free to update and fix it as needs arise. (AD update the FBX plugins more often than the host apps too, when you run them the first time in a new install they usually ask to go online to check for the latest plugin update).

Cheers,
Brian
