OpenEXR Workflow with 3ds Max

Hi,

we´re considering to switch our workflow from 3ds max to After Effects by using EXR.
I just did a quick test with a multichannel EXR and stumbled upon 2 problems:

1. Channelextraction:

I duplicated the EXR-Sequence once for every channel and then used the EXtractoR Plugin to extract each Channel seperately.
That took quite some time and I don´t wanna do that on a regular basis...Is this the workflow that is being used normally? Is there a way to automate this process in After Effects?

2. Performance:

Scrubbing the timeline was really slow and almost unworkable.
Is that normal? is there a way to speed things up?

Otherwise I don´t see any use in switching from TIF to EXR, but I mostly do the 3D Part and only to a lesser extend compositing.

Scripts. I'm sure there's one out there somewhere.

Yes, AE has the slowest EXR handling on the planet. The 1.7 update from fNordware boosts performance a tiny bit and allegedly in CS7 it's gonna be even better, but compared to Nuke oir even Blender I bet it's still gonna suck...
