greenscreen, moving plate, cg OH MY!

Goal:

Composite my son, taking off in a cg plane and flying over my house.

Backplate: A simple right to Left pan with a little tilt over the house.

I have tracked the footage in PF track, exported it to maya and nailed the animation of the cg plane.

I have placed my son in front of a greenscreen on top of a rotating surface and tried to mimick the timing and angle of the rotating cg plane.

In After Effects, I have tried to animate the greenscreen footage to the movement of the plane but it never quite looks right.

Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks
MT

If you have a tracked camera and animated plane looking good inside of Maya, than I would export that camera to AE so all your cameras match. Then maybe align some helper object in the cockpit of your plane in Maya, which will track along correctly with your plane. Export that helper object to AE and parent the footage of your son to it, so it tracks along inside your cockpit. No need to keyframe the footage, if you can track it.

thank you so much for the reply!

The animation looks great in maya and if I understand you correctly, I could simply export the maya camera, airplane, and a helper object within the plane to AE. Then, track the helper object in AE and parent the green screen footage to it and bring the original airplane on top of the tracked helper object?

Only one question, how do I create a helper object in maya?

Thanks again,
MT
