Yeah I kinda see what you mean but I find the amount of dancing from one side of the screen to the other quite annoying with the default and similar UI's - even using a smallish resolution like 1280x1024.

I find that my mouse is normally around the middle of the screen so hitting the space bar is perfect, the UI pop's up right where I need it - works well for me anyway.

Cheers

That is wonderfully elegant. I could really get to love it.

Just had a quick go and it works like a treat

Thumbs up Thanks four your great UI.

I use this setup for two days and now I wonder how I ever could work without it.

Question

Yes this is a very nice design - congrats!

One question I have is, when I tap the spacebar, the UI pops up (good) but then it disappears again, is this the way it's supposed to be?

If I right-click a button, the UI will stay open (or if I hold down the spacebar) but then if I select say one of the blue buttons, space characters will start filling up the first field of the dialog that pops up (since the key is obviously held down)

I guess I can try and release the spacebar before or directly after I click one of the blue buttons but I'm wondering if this is just my experience or perhaps I have a setting somewhere that's too short why the UI disappears so fast after I tap the spacebar once?

-Will

-PS - This is on WinXP

HI There WillBellJr,

The UI only appears while the space bar is down - this is the functionality of Silo.

The idea is that you navigate around your model using your mouse and when you need to change your tool, you hold the space bar down, the UI pops up, you select the tool you want, release the space bar and the UI disappears leaving you with an uncluttered view of your model.

This method is not for everyone (lots of people like to see the buttons all the time) but it works well for me.

I'm not sure about your right mouse clicks - The UI was only designed for use with the space bar and left mouse clicks.

Hope that helps!

Cheers

Ah yes, we had promised someone a while back to make it so that the space bar doesn't do anything in the text fields so as to avoid this problem. For now you'll just have to time it right when you open dialogs with text fields - sorry

Wink

Thanks guys, actually right clicking a button currently shows its tool tip - I was sorta surprised by that as well...

Jamchild, if it'd be possible to make that key assignable I think that may be nicer. I'm thinking a function key or if that's to distant to reach, one of the extended mouse buttons would be nice also (others have requested you support n-button mice, I 2nd these requests as well. )
