Best tyre modelling tutorial?
I've been asked to model a tyre (or tire for my American cousins) and wondered what the best approach is. It has to be high poly and as photorealistic as posssible. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Haven't done a tyre for a long time, but what I do:
1. Find a tread design, and find the loopable pattern
2. Use this as a guide to create one segment on a cube, including the segment profile of the tyre (meaning the curves of a segment of the tyre
3. Clone this segment along the long axis, 20 times? maybe more, maybe less, depends how big the segment is - just experiment with it
4. use a bend modifier to create the circle shape from this strip of seamless pattern.
In terms of combining/welding/etc, can convert it to editable and weld the points. This requires your offsets and number of clones to be almost perfect, so be aware of that.
That's how I have gone about modelling a high poly tyre before.

Here is a german tutorial. I think, the screens are pretty much self-explanatory.
