Custom Bike, Bart Peperkamp (3D)

Title: Custom Bike
Name: Bart Peperkamp
Country: The Netherlands
Software: Maya And Photoshop

I made this image using Maya and Photoshop, it took several months of tweaking and tuning, but i was never really satisfied about it (thats why it took so long)
I think it is good enough to call it finished now and am wondering if you think the same :)

So, let me know what you think of it :)

Overall, I think it looks good. Maybe you could spice up the image with some more interesting background and thus more interesting reflections, and shadows: Maybe then you'd get more of a response from people out there. Keep Pluggin'

The image itself... is very sweet. As a photographer, I would light the scene a little differently.

I'd make sure that light is coming from three points and that not all of the lights are the same color or intensity. Since the light reflecting off the background scrims also serves for framing, I'd make sure that the handlebars of the bike don't fade into the backdrop. I'd also make sure that the kick stand is not "floating in space." There is important detail in the engine area which is totally un-emphasized now.

As for the model, I think it's just fine. With careful adjustment to the lighting its presentation could be much stronger yet. The same exact thing would be the case if this were a real bike on a real stage.

(And if it makes you feel good, you should know this: I hesitated just a moment after writing that sentence and said to myself, "Umm, this is a CG bike, isn't it?") So in that department: !

Very cool indeed, and I agree with the comment about the lighting.
I wonder, did you have any reference blueprints for the engine or was that done from a lot of reference photos?

I made the engine with the help of a lot of photo's, but i basically made the engine up (with the photos in mind), i doubt if they are technically 100% correct or even 60%
I will look into the lighting

my only comment is.. umm.. the bike stand. is it actually resting on the ground or its supposed to be floating in the air? coz if its on the ground, I can't really see its shadow :S

I'm really diggin the bike paint material though. I like how the purple blends away into a different one. Nice though i reckon.
