The mov file from Igor Sandman crashes with my Quicktime 7 Player, the ideatheft mov file just has sound but no video. Maybe it's my Quicktime player but all the other mov files I've got work fine. Steve Sherrin's mov file works well too.

Watch the movies in your browser...

Just click the links and watch the movies in your browser. That's the only way i could get some of them to work for some reason.

It crashes with mine too...just watch it online or with another player (like vlc)

same problem here. I think it's the os codec that is broken but if you download the latest .mov from sergio's wip thread it should work (at least it worked for me)

BTW who see the shorts can post c/c on them? we are starving for feedbacks!

i've been posting feedback (if any) to the original WIP thread.

what is up with entries #5 and #10 on the voting page (re: no info)? does this mean there were only 8 finished entries? i was expecting more but since i didn't finish, i feel guilty saying too much about it. does anyone have any thought on why there weren't more entries?

for me, this exercise, and the finished entries, stressed the importance of using an animatic. it has become clearer to me that establishing story, camera angles, pacing, mood, even lighting and overall element integration (relationships between characters, sets, SFX, etc.) is so important, and so much easier to do using storyboards and quick sketches -as opposed to just winging it and hoping something cool lturns out.

in my opinion, this also backs up what scott harris mentioned in one of his posts regarding the benefits of going from animatic, to a low poly 'skeleton' version, to a gradually 'beefed up' version to a finished piece; you always have a 'finished' piece that you can continue to show and get feedback on at basically every stage of the production (kinda like keyframing with a pose to pose or hybrid method instead of straight ahead animation).

it's no wonder that's how the pros generally do it; i hope i can remember to utilize this method more often in my own work.

it's ok to post comments on the wip thread for me, my message was for the ones who don't say a thing, good or bad, on the shorts. I know a lot of "errors" in my entry but people with different sensibility may find different meanings or flaws.

the final entries are only 7 and i think that there are not more because this is the first time and most people were doing not live action which is probably easier or faster. Also a lot of people didn't even tried to make something except of saying that they had surely partecipated. So you think that you'll find a lot of works but in the end...from the original discussion i can remember only Igor Sandman and SergioKomic.

yeah, it's too bad when people don't leave a comment but sometimes it's just difficult to find something constructive to say...
