3 part cylinder rig

Got following problem while trying to rig the cylinder. Did the outer parts like normal with look at constraints. But how do i do the middle part, so it moves like with half the speed of the others?

Give it a position script controller with a "(position_of_piston_1+position_of_piston_3)/2" expression.

Thanks, gonna try that. Never worked with scripts before,dont know how tho, but will find it out ^^ any other ideas?

"(a+b)/2" is all you need to type where 'a' and 'b' are variables with the position tracks of the dummies assigned to them:

pretty basic link/lookat would have thought...


just move the 2 end point helpers around...

The middle helper has Position Constraint, the 2 things controlling it are naturally the 2 end helpers, by default it's set at 50/50....boy, can't get any easier...didn't have to do anything extra really...the only thing is to set the pivot of your middle cylinder to centre, not at base.

cool...of course if you have more middle tubes than just one, then you can split the weight from default 50/50 to 60/40 or 70/30....whatever...easy...
