I had same problem in Maya 2016.5.

I have just opened the AEfileTemplate.mel file and commented this lines:


//string $currButtonCmd = `button -q -command textureUvTilingGeneratePreviewButton`;
//deleteUI textureUvTilingGeneratePreviewButton;
//createGeneratePreviewButton(
// `getAttr ($nodeName + ".uvTileProxyDirty")`, $currButtonCmd);


And it works. :-)

Blender can do basically everything maya can do. But using other methods. And yes. blender actually can do preselections perfectly fine, also using proportional editing (its not called soft selection in blender).

And yes. You can rotate the view using paint selection. But i guess you use the maya interface, now thats the issue. It is still a bit buggy. But using blender native interface i presume (i never tested) you should be able to move the camera. I know this because i saw tons of tutorials about painting in Blender. And i know it because i use the maya interface and the camera movement locked is a problem not only when painting, but when using some tools. It doesnt happen using Blender interface (apparently).

Also, im loving the fact that Blender is far more intuitive than Maya once you get used to it. And a lot of tools are far more handy. Sure, maya hve a lot of fancy tools and surface modifiers, because that is what makes maya what it is. But i used maya for 5 years, and ive been using Blender for 4 months, and so far, not a single problem replicating everything i did with maya. I am even enjoying it much more, because you know.. i dont find a problem every couple of minutes, like in maya. Not to mention, Blender is a thousand times faster than maya.. in every single aspect. And you have so many amazing and handy plugins out there..and the new internal render cycles is totally amazing. I understand that is hard to let go maya and try to justify why you stick with it, specially after a long time, but ive been there, and no more. Its time to move on.. lol.

If you disagree, then you obviously dont have a clue how powerful is Blender or any other 3d app besides maya. And that, it doesnt matter what 3d app you chose, its only about preferences. You probably only used maya so far, and you just follow the social media that says because Blender is free, it is inferior than maya. lol, well, reality is far different.

wtf is with the graph editor now.

can't even select/move keys using mmb anymore.
cant select multiple keys.

wiping my ass still works.

Got this email from Autodesk this morning:

What a joke. So instead of hiring better programmers & offering them more money, they keep the same goobers and just hire "technical support experts" to tell us, "Yeah its a bug... sowwy."

Well, the only good thing about Maya 2017, is that you can upgrade to 2018 without hesitation. It might be even more broken and you will jump back to 2016. Either way, you wont be sticking with 2017.
