Graph editor keys unable to spline

Maya 2012. Using HIK. Joints and IK controllers are good.

Hip Controller, my translate keys are fine but my rotate animation keys are 'stuck' as some strange interpolation.

I have included prefs. I may be doing something wrong. Some help?

It looks like you have two overlapping keys on the same frame for the same curve.

Nah, for the translate it's fine.

It's a bit hard to see for the Rotate Y because of the image quality. But the 'peak' doesn't have a key. It's some kind of cubic or weird quadradic bezier interpolation which I can't figure out. Only happens with HIK.

Gimble lock?

Change the rotation type, that might well fix it.
