constraining objects to points on curve...

Im modelling this character for a project at university:

I'm animating the mouth to either be a or a :( , lol. I have a curve on the head that I can turn into a smile, for example, but how do I constrain each tooth to a specific part on the curve? My initial idea was to make a point constrain under each tooth along the curve but obviously this mean that I can only control the shape of the curve with the locators it creates... I want to do the opposite... I almost want a locator to stick to a point on the curve and stay there when I move the curve - not stay stuck in world space.

Not sure If I explained that very well. Any help would be awesome, thanks

You could use a motion path. Just create some locators, attach them to the curve using a motionPath and after that delete the animCurveTL node which drives the locators position and then set them manually to the right positions. But this only works if you want to set your tooths positions, you surely will have to use some additional constraints for their orientations.
