Duplicate-Mirror Multiple Objects

So I am modelling a robot and some of this parts a symmetrical, but he has a LOT of parts, so what is the quickest way of duplicating the parts and mirroring them across?

In Maya I would group all the parts, set the pivot in the middle on the grid and then set the scale to -1. I tried something like that with transform and normal groups in Softimage but then weird things happen with the pivots and translation information on the duplicated objects.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Nevermind I figured it out by creating a normal group (ctrl+g), don't know why it didn't work the first time. If there is a better/easier way of doing this I would still appreciate it if someone gave me some tips :P
