Smile Not understand Scale maya

Hello guys,
I'm new here to cgsociety and also am a noob. I've seen quite a few videos on youtube where the scale tool resembles this (more or less with the green and red boxes) http://download.autodesk.com/global...4045D94-low.png

With the red and green boxes, I've seen people lower and pull the top. Here is a picture of the yellow box in the center (my problem).

I know it's a simple fix. Btw, I'm using Maya 2013.

Try hold down CTRL when you click on those manipulators.

Not only scale tool, CTRL key also gives the move tool different behaviour.

Unfortuantly, it doesn't work. The scale tool still sizes objects instead of pulling them.

Hmmmmm, strangely, it doesn't work. It gives the same function without the ctrl. Is it my Maya that's acting weird. Should I reinstall it (I doubt that would change anything).

In that case I really have no idea. CTRL has always worked for me : /

Alright, if anyone ever has this issue, here's the solution:

The + and - key brought the manipulators down and now I have them! Thanks for you help!
