Orange iguana

Hi, heres an iguana Ive been working on in Maya Mari and Mudbox. I would really like to improve it so any crits would be very welcome. I'm most interested in making the textures nicer then putting it in some sort of environment/ working on the lighting afterwards.

I'm normally not good with critiques, but I'll try to give it a go.

Personally, I think that the texturing and/or sculpting is very well done. It looks very realistic and is believable.

That said, I think there's two areas for improvement:
  1. Positioning the iguana realistically. While the position is okay, the claws don't look like they're properly holding on to the stump, especially the back ones. Maybe just bending them slightly will make it more believable.
  2. Post work. The colours look okay, but I personally find that they look a little washed out, so maybe try increasing the contrast slightly. Secondly, make the image slightly unfocused to capture further realism. I think that while the depth-of-field is properly configured, your render is still missing a sort of 'glow' of real-life objects. My usual cheap solution is to simply create a copy of the image, blur it slightly (for your image, I used 16px Gaussian blurring), and blend it on top of the original with an opacity of 25% +/- 10%.

After making these modifications, this is what I ended up with:
