VFX Schools advice

Can anyone give a suggestion about VFX Schools in US? Among Gnomon, DAVE and Expression, which one is better? Please help me, thanks.

I went to Gnomon and do not regret it. However if someone wanted to be a character animator I dont know if Gnomon would be my first suggestion. If they wanted to get into modeling/texturing/lighting/comp/fx, then it would be.

So it depends what you want to do.

I agree, in the US, Gnomon is top dog for those things. (for sake of info for others) if you want animation hands down no question about it Ringling.

If you end up picking Gnomon hit me up, I am applying for their September (i think it is) start date.

You may also find some information on my website helpful.

I have a spot dedicated to info about Gnomon under top schools you might want to check that out. Info is from what I have read and what the admissions people have said.

Dont get me wrong, Gnomon has great animation classes with great animation teachers, but its a generalist program (or it was, they have changed it now into 3 separate tracks, including a character animation track).

However there are schools that are seemingly solely dedicated to character animation, and from what I can gather they might be a better option.

Can't PM you because you new so I'll have to ask here, what program are you going for? Also have you applied yet? Probably best if you e-mail me back or PM (don't think you can yet), don't want to hijack his thread . My e-mail is in my sig.

Sorry to poster for my irrelevant post.

I would make sure to pursue programs that teach Houdini.

I almost went to the DAVE school! But I'm from Alaska and Florida seemed so FAR away! So I decided to go to some crazy foreign country instead-- Canada! Lots of great schools here in Vancouver like the tiny (only 12 students accepted a semester, but incredible education!) Think Tank Training Centre (which is kind of Gnomon-like, form what I've hear about it)
