noobquestion about nummeric keyboard

Hi there,

Sorry for this ultimate noob-question, but I can't seem to use the .-button on my numpad. Not in Maya, and as I want to type this post I discover the button doens't work here either. It looks like it doesn't matter which language I choose...

anyone knows what to do? I use a Steelseries 6Gv2 on Windows 8.

Thanks!

did you press num lock? There should be a system pref to enable numlock by default

You should have another key which its primary function is dot. In my keyboard it's to the left of the fore slash "/".

Well, my quick and dirty fix would be to grab a new keyboard (it's really cheap here in Thailand) but if I really have to try fix it, I'd pull off the key and stick it back in. Maybe do a little cleaning too.

Sorry, but both solutions are not really the answer I'm looking for.

Well. It did sound like a hardware thing. That's why I suggest fixing the keyboard itself : /

It's probably a driver thing, and you should ask on windows forums. In the meantime you can program using AutoHotKey a new shortcut for '.'.

I don';t think it is. I used this keyboard (which is a pretty expensive mechanical keyboard) for some time on my previous desktop also, without any problems.

The key itself looks good, also underneath.

Make a disk-on-key or a cd bootable with another os: freedos, linux, mini xp ... (e.g. using ultimate boot cd), or maybe simply press f8 before windows starts and go into command prompt mode. Test your keyboard in this OS.
