Render Preview different from saving to file format.
Hi guys. I have problem.
I just noticed that when I render an image in 3Ds Max 2012, it looks exactly how I want it in the preview render. When I save it out to .png, .tga or any other file format, it looks slightly off (Just a bit lightly washed out but not a big difference) when I load it up in photoshop or simply preview it.
I actually prefer the preview render in max more but don't know how to go about to make it look the same when saved out.
I researched around and found a lot of info about gamma correction but I'm not entirely sure. My settings are default and i'm basically rendering a bunch of props with some basic lights set up. Nothing complicated.
I'm thinking it has something to do with monitor calibration? Or maybe even a bug or setting I missed?
I also unchecked compress and tried saving it out 24 and 48 bit but no luck.
If you guys have any info on this, please help! Been struggling with this all day.

As I don't know your gamma settings, renderer, or light setup a quick hack is to click the 'copy image' button at the top left of the frame buffer and with photoshop open just ctrl+N>ctrl+V and an exact copy of the frame buffer will be pasted to the document. This is because, based on your gamma settings when you save your image it will either be a linear image(darker) or a gamma corrected image.
I would definitely advise, however, that you do some research on correct linear workflow and incorporate it. non-linear workflow is now obselete and should be avoided.
