3d river with designed structures for marketing

Hi everybody, So I am back to working on the 3d river scene (posted a construction animation of this location and wood dam structure in the final complete thread a month or so ago)
So my company wanted to make some marketing materials for flyers about these structures, how they work, and how they look "natural". People cant quite give me a clear picture of what they want because they are not sure what they want. So I ask you, people of the world..

some info, the surface is a civil 3d surface brought in with civil view created from aerial lidar (Using max design '13) The forest and river bed rocks are being generated with iToo Forests Pack Pro (awesome tool!!!) Scene has 30 million polys in it currently Being rendered in Mental ray on a HP-820 with dual xeons each with 8 cores with a total of 32 threads, 64 gb ram and a quadro K5000 (4gb ram and 1536 vcores)
ORI renders are 4k rez and render in about 10 hours with Mental Ray cranked up to very high
Some images have some PS color correction (I render dark, as it is easier to adjust the exposure later)

heres a couple more shots

not really sure how much i like these, I changed the backfill from what you see here, it stands out to much, so I put the rock base over it.

and this image, well, you can see the tris from the TIN, the rock scatter angle shifts and well, produces that :/ any ideas on how to fix that with out smoothing the surface (with out weighting the breaklines, which i dont have time to do)
