Growing a tube or pipe on softimage

Hello,

I would like to make the pipe of the picture to grow from bottom to top in an animation of softimage.

I have created the pipe extruding a circle along a curve. I would like to know if there is any possibility in softimage to make the effect of appearing gradually from bottom to top like it is growing up and controlling in the frames that I want on the animation.

Thank you very much,

Sara Gemma

If you did it with Extrusion along Curve(check in Help file) you can animate the Start and End Position.

1. Get>curve>circle (so the circle can be seen in front view)

2. In left view Create>curve>draw cubic by CV (draw a nice long curve to create a path)

3. Select curve/path

4. Create>polymesh>extrusion along curve

5. PPG settings Extrusion>End Pos to animate the start of the curve.

Hope it helps.

Depending on what surfacing needs you have and how many you need, it might be easier or more convenient to use strands, or topo ops, in ICE than doing it with old fashioned genOps like extrusions.
