It looks unfinished to me. I'm not sure if that's because of fog or a general impressionistic style of painting, but I see some fine details such as the birds and the clouds (which I love) so it makes the rest of the areas look unfinished.

Specifically irksome is the central subject. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but from the general shape and placement, I'm guessing a floating island. If this is the case, the tan sections are not convincing as earth. The light is overhead. Therefore, the underside of the structure should be shrouded in shadow. However, all of it seems to be more in the midtone range. You might give an arguement for rebounding light, but without a highly reflective surface beneath it (such as a lake) the light shouldn't be that bright. On the other hand, with the overhead lighting, the structures on top should be as brightly highlighted as the grassy segments.

Overall, because of the lack of contrast and details in the background, the central object really needs more contrast and finer detailing.
