Renderman for Maya: How to get mattes/alphas on a per object basis?

In renderman for maya, what's the best way of getting mattes/alphas for individual objects? For example, I have a scene with two characters and a train.

You might be interested in object id output.

if you do a search in renderman forums for objectid, you'll find a _lot_ of help.

Great, thanks for your help. I tried the renderman forums before, but it seemed I was only able to access just a few posts in the entire forum. I didn't realise that by searching you can get access to lots of other posts.

Well if you are paying a customer, you have access :-)

There's a lot of stuff there so you should find what you need.
