Shadow-only-Light in V-Ray

Hello fellas!
So there's thes object, let's call it a rock, which needs to cast shadows onto the ground. But he needs to do that while the Sun is shining in another direction. Basically he needs to cast shadows in two directions but be illuminated from one direction.
Now I googled and came to this:

Shadow-only-Light:
Light Color: BLACK
Light Multiplier: 1.0
Shadow Color: WHITE
Shadow Multiplier: -1.0

Now my problem is that the light negatively illuminates the ground around the rock.
I tried excluding the ground from illumination but then it doesn't receive any shadows from that light, which is the whole point of this exercise...

Can you point me to the error? I am sure I just miss something...It can't be that Max/V-Ray can't do what I want ;-)

I think negative lights only work with Scanline the way you want them to. The problem is that V-Ray lights are somewhat physically accurate, so there can't be shadow without light, because shadow is just the absence of light, and not really something that's projected on the ground (which is the way shadow maps work).

You could render a separate shadow pass though.

Hello and thanks for your reply.
I am using normal lights, not V-Ray-Lights and I even tried using normal Shadowmaps instead of V-Ray-Shadowmaps...

You could do it in post by using passes

So there is no way in doing this directly in max with V-Ray? That would be....poor.
