That Ear!

The curse/blessing of being an artist is that if you are improving with each painting, then you will never be satisfied with your work, because as you finish each piece, you will see things that you learned in the process of completing that work--things which you would do differently if you had the chance to do it over again. But that's a good thing, because if you were constantly in love with each piece, then that would mean that you never learned anything in the process of its creation!

Just some thoughts I have each time I finish a study/project.

Eeew--that ear anatomy! I didn't even realize when I was doing it how off I had made it! I'm sure the model didn't have cauliflower ear in the reference!

Justice League of . . . the Retirement Home

This doesn't happen often, but the other day I sketched an image of an old, fat super-man and an old, bent-over batman, and I actually laughed out loud. It felt a little weird, like laughing at one's own joke, but there you have it. For some reason, it tickled my funny bone enough that I wanted to explore the idea a little deeper.

So here it is: The Justice League of . . . the Retirement home!
