color restoration to old photo
hey, I'm looking to restore the photo to its original colors.
(these are my sweet parents and we're making a gift for my father's 60th birthday). ![]() I've managed to bring back some of its real colors by playing with the curves a little and reducing the red. but I'm positive that there's enough information in the image's color to get it to look better, maybe through some manipulation of the channels or working in lab mode? ![]() anyone has any tips or ideas? thanks ![]() |

try playing with the Color Balance and the Hue/Saturation. if you want to fix a specific area use the polygon lasso tool to make a selection around it or go into quick mask mode, use the paint bucket and paint it all black (it will be a transparent red), then erase over the areas you want selected, then go back to regular mode and it will have the areas you erased selected and all the manipulations you do will only be done in the selected area.

Also try Image>Adjustmente>Variations to get it close to what you want. You can refine further with Hue/Saturation adjustments to individual colours.
